If you fancy a career in web design, then it's critical to study Adobe Dreamweaver. In order to use Dreamweaver professionally as a web designer, a thorough comprehension of the whole Adobe Web Creative Suite (including Flash and Action Script) is without doubt a bonus. With this knowledge, you can go onto become either an ACP (Adobe Certified Professional) or an ACE (Adobe Certified Expert).
To develop into a professional web-designer however, you'll have to get more diverse knowledge. You will need to learn certain programming skills like HTML, PHP and MySQL. An excellent grasp of E-Commerce and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) will also give you a distinct advantage in the marketplace.
Sometimes men and women assume that the traditional school, college or university system is still the best way into IT. So why are commercially accredited qualifications beginning to overtake it? With a growing demand for specific technological expertise, industry has been required to move to the specialised training that can only be obtained from the actual vendors - namely companies like Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA. This often comes in at a fraction of the cost and time. Essentially, the learning just focuses on what's actually required. It isn't quite as lean as that might sound, but the principle remains that students need to cover the precise skills needed (including a degree of required background) - without attempting to cover a bit about every other area (as universities often do).
Imagine if you were an employer - and you required somebody who had very specific skills. What's the simplest way to find the right person: Go through a mass of different academic qualifications from various applicants, asking for course details and which trade skills have been attained, or choose particular accreditations that specifically match what you're looking for, and then select who you want to interview from that. Your interviews are then about personal suitability - rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.
A ridiculously large number of organisations only concern themselves with gaining a certificate, and forget why you're doing this - getting yourself a new job or career. Your focus should start with the end in mind - too many people focus on the journey. You could be training for only a year and end up doing the actual job for 10-20 years. Don't make the error of finding what seems like an 'interesting' training program and then spend decades in a job you hate!
Take time to understand how you feel about earning potential and career progression, and how ambitious you are. You should understand what (if any) sacrifices you'll need to make for a particular role, what accreditations they want you to have and where you'll pick-up experience from. Seek out help from a professional advisor who appreciates the market you're interested in, and is able to give you 'A typical day in the life of' outline of of what you'll be doing on a day-to-day basis. It's good sense to know if this change is right for you before your course begins. There's really no point in starting to train only to realise you've made a huge mistake.
Does job security really exist anymore? In the UK for example, where business constantly changes its mind on a whim, it seems increasingly unlikely. Of course, a fast growing sector, where there just aren't enough staff to go round (as there is a big shortfall of commercially certified staff), provides a market for lasting job security.
Recently, a national e-Skills investigation demonstrated that twenty six percent of IT jobs cannot be filled because of an appallingly low number of appropriately certified professionals. To explain it in a different way, this means that Great Britain only has three qualified staff for every four jobs existing currently. This single notion alone highlights why the country is in need of many more people to become part of the Information Technology market. Unquestionably, it really is such a perfect time to retrain into IT.
